A scarf is more than just an accessory. A scarf holds a living history: it has witnessed the joy of wedding songs and the sadness of farewells, lullabies sung over a cradle and whispered prayers, given as a token of respect and love; it covered the head of a young bride, blessed her on her journey, protected her from the bad eye, and shielded her from the cold or the sun.
This Hutsul girl in the photo is having a very happy day. Her eyes simply shine with passion—that’s exactly why I dressed her in red. I’m sure that this very red scarf undoubtedly brought her love, where every knot and every tassel tied together the history of generations of women, multiplying their life energy.
